the Jerry Doliner Food Bank -
The Social
Service Council of the Jewish Federation maintains a
well-stocked crisis food bank which provides emergency food to
people who “fall through the cracks” of the system. The food
bank provides staples such as cereals, juices, canned vegetables
and fruits, canned meats, peanut butter, pasta, canned and dry
milk, paper goods, and other items deemed necessary for
survival.
Due to the current state of the economy the Jerry Doliner Food Bank is serving an increasing
number of clients in Volusia and Flagler County and there is still much more we must do to reduce
the growing food insecurity in our community. If you would like
to make a donation to the Jerry Doliner Food Bank please
drop-off unopened and unexpired food items or paper goods at our
headquarters located at
470 Andalusia Avenue, Ormond

You can make it
easier on our volunteers by dropping off your food donation in
the morning and bringing quantity of one single item instead of
several various food item. For example 10 cans of ravioli are
easier for us to manage than 10 cans of ten different items.
The Food Bank
hours are 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, and a United
Way or other agency’s referral slip is required to receive food.

Support our
School Supply Program -
The Social service Council of the Jewish Federation of Volusia a
Flagler Counties started donating backpacks loaded with school
supplies to area schools in 1996. These quality backpack with
supplies are donated to students who cannot afford one. Guidance
counselors at each school select the recipients of backpacks.
From 1996 to 2008, 41.000 backpacks have been donated to
students in 83 elementary, middle, and high schools in Volusia
and Flagler Counties. During the week before school starts, over
200 volunteers will be packing the school supplies in
assembly-line fashion at Temple Beth-El's Social Hall.
Your
contribution of $25.00 will buy a backpack and needed school
supply for one student. 100% of the money donated goes toward
the supplies - NO administrative costs! Your
contribution is tax deductible and your name will be listed as a
generous donor on a card placed in each child's backpack.
